HOMEOWNER GUIDE
PLANNING YOUR INTERIOR PAINTING PROJECT
What affects the cost of interior painting
The size of the rooms and the height of the ceilings set the baseline. Wall condition matters next: cracks, holes, water stains and old patches all need prep. Going from a dark color to a light one, or the reverse, can take extra coats. Painting trim, doors, ceilings and cabinets each add detail work, as do stairwells, high walls and rooms full of furniture.
Choosing paint and sheen
Better-quality paint covers more evenly and holds up to cleaning. Sheen affects both look and durability: flatter finishes hide imperfections, while glossier finishes wipe clean but show every flaw. Kitchens, bathrooms, kids' rooms and hallways usually get a more washable finish. Test samples on your walls before you decide, since light changes how a color reads.
Older homes and lead paint
Homes built before 1978 may have lead-based paint under newer coats. When that paint is disturbed by sanding or scraping, federal rules require lead-safe work practices to control dust. Knowing your home's age helps us plan the prep.
Orange County homes and light
Many Orange County homes have big windows and bright afternoon light, which can make colors look lighter or warmer than the swatch. Rooms that face the sun also show fading over time, so it's worth choosing quality paint in those spaces.
How to prepare
Take down art, mirrors and window coverings, and move small items and valuables out of the rooms. We cover floors and furniture and mask everything before painting. Have your colors chosen before the start date so the crew can keep moving. A single room usually takes a day or two; larger painting projects take longer.

FAQ
INTERIOR PAINTING FAQS
Do you move furniture and protect floors?
Yes. We cover floors and furniture and mask everything before painting.
Do you patch walls first?
Yes. Patching, sanding and caulking come before any paint.
Can I pick my own colors?
Yes. Colors are your choice and are listed as an open selection in your estimate.
What paint sheen should I use?
Flat or matte hides wall flaws and suits ceilings. Eggshell and satin are easier to clean and work well on most walls. Semi-gloss is common on trim, doors, kitchens and bathrooms.
Is the paint low-odor?
Paints sold in California must meet strict limits on volatile organic compounds (VOCs), so today's interior paints have far less odor than older formulas. Zero-VOC lines are available if you want them.
Is the assessment really free?
Yes. There's no cost and no obligation to hire us.
Do you offer financing?
Ask us at your assessment and we'll walk you through the options available for your project. Financing is subject to credit approval.
